FURTHER snow overnight across the county has caused more problems for drivers across the region.

There are several reports of broken down vehicles and hazardous conditions on the roads.

The A283 is blocked both ways at Washington due to a broken down lorry at the A24 London Road, creating congestion on the A24.
Gossops Drive at Crawley is
blocked due to broken down buses at Capel Lane.

The A264 at Pease Pottage is a problem area with snow making the area difficult.

The A272 at Cuckfield is blocked due to a broken down gritter on the B2036

The A281 Albion Way is paertially blocked due to a broken down vehicle.
Police have warned motorists, saying: "Since midnight up to 2in of snow have fallen across the county and it seems in some places to be of a wetter type than in recent days.

"This may be partly responsible for nearly 70 incidents of all types that have been reported to police as of 7.45am, rather higher than in the previous snowfalls - so far today however these are mainly damage only or slight injury collisions, or vehicles stuck and blocking roads."

Superintendent Steve Barry, Head of Sussex Police Road Policing Unit said; "If you need to travel this morning, leave it for an hour or two if you can, and see if conditions ease up. If you do take to the roads, take it easy, allow extra time for your journey and allow extra space from other vehicles."
