Children love going to March Primary School because there are plenty of interesting and worthwhile things to do, an Ofsted inspector has said.
The school in Westhampnett received a glowing report as it was rated 'good' in its overall performance.
Lead inspector Eileen Chadwick pointed to the excellent achievements in English, art and the humanities.
She said in her report: "Pupils re
ceive excellent levels of care and this is a major reason why their personal development, including behaviour, is exceptional."
"Pupils do well academically and excel in English, art and the humanities. The impressive curriculum gives them rich opportunities to develop their creative, practical and sporting skills from the earliest age.
"The great majority of parents justifiably hold the school in high regard.
"Children love coming to school because there are plenty of interesting and worthwhile things to do."
The school scored outstanding in all but two parts of the personal development and well being of pupils. The inspector pinpointed two aspects for the school to improve – to make sure maths is not too easy or too hard, and for teachers to be more involved in monitoring pupils' learning.
Headteacher Ruth Cumming said: "I am delighted the talent and hard work of everyone at The March has been recognised.
"We are a very strong team and I am pleased that our talented staff, governors and parents have been acknowledged publicly."
