We've got bowls action from Fittleworth, Nyetimber, Aldingbourne and Petworth as the indoor and outdoor seasons overlap.
FITTLEWORTH SHORT MAT

Westergte 23 Fittlewth 37

Fittleworth's first short mat game of the season was a league match at Westergate, which Fittleworth won by 14 shots.

Scores: M Gander, N Goodyer, Norman Goodyer, S Judd won 18-10; L White,
A Jordan, G Barnfield, B Williams won 19-13.

Fittleworth 42 Sutton 64

Not a very good start to the short mat season for Fittleworth at home, losing on all three mats and by 22 shots.

Scores: A Hodgson, K Mann, N Goodyer, S Judd lost 17-16; L White, R Love, A Jordan, C Martin lost 23-16; M Cook, L Love, G Barnfield, N Goodyer lost 24-10.

Fittlewth 42 Walburton 37

A good game of bowls saw Fittleworth winning by six shots on one mat and losing by just one shot on the second mat, gaining four points.

Scores: A Hodgson, A Jordan, G Barnfield, B Williams won 22-16;
L White, N Goodyer, S Judd, C Martin lost 21-20.

Storringtn 49 Fittlewth 65

Three very good games of bowls were played at Storrington.

Fittleworth got the better of them on all three mats winning by 16 shots overall.

Scores: M Gander, Lynn White, G Barnfield, C Martin won 19-18; M Cook, A Jordan, S Allen, S Judd won 23-16; P Gilpin, A Hodgson, N Goodyer, B Williams won 23-15.

NYETIMBER

Nyetimber Green started their league campaign with a 46-32 defeat at Westergate.

Scores: Mat 1: Joan Evans, Alan Foot, Frances Hollebone, Cyril Searle lost 22-18; Mat 2: Catherine Plummer, Jean Porter, George Booker,
Arthur Guppy lost 24-14.

On the friendly mat, Celia Foot, Nigel Plummer, Irene Hathaway and Freda Thomas drew 16-16.

ALDINGBOURNE

Stan Hayter beat Clare Mulholland in a closely-contested Slindon trophy at Aldingbourne's finals day.

Playing in the Sussex County centenary trophy third round, Aldingbourne trounced Petworth 32-6, with Petworth conceding the match at 16 ends.

The semi-final will be played in 2009 against close rivals Chichester Bowls Club. The Aldingbourne team were F Taylor (skip), R Macer, G Jacobs, B Everett.

Aldingbourne are an all-weather all-year club who welcome new members.

PETWORTH

Petworth 117 Horsham 63

With the outdoor season almost over and a little short on players, two rinks and two triples were played with Petworth winning on three out of four games and by 54 shots.

Scores: J Dormer, B Walsh, R Fenton, G Ives won 33-12; P Herrington,
M Bacon, E West, G Allen won 25-22; B Jones, A Jordan, C Spear won 43-4; R Lucking, S Allen, T Whittington lost 25-16.

Petwth 61 Haslemere 32

The last game of the outdoor season at Petworth resulted in a home win by 29 shots.

Scores: P Spear, S Allen, D Herbert won 21-9; P Herrington, S Gould,
C Spear won 25-9; R Haley, C Peacock, J Dormer, T Whittington won 15-14.
