Chichester juniors have nothing to be cross about

Chichester's juniors got the cross-country season off to a fine start in the Sussex relay championships.
Athletes had to battle against the elements as well as the hilly Goodwood terrain, but the under-17 trio of Jess McKenzie, Eleanor Purvis and Katie Johnson won their race by nearly five minutes, the biggest margin of the day.
Running with the seniors, McKenzie gave Chichester a commanding lead on leg one which the others extended to the finish.
Her time of 15min 25sec for the 4,000m course was faster than some of the club's senior men.
Showing Chichester's strength in the under-17s, the B team of Sophie Millett, Emma Nicholson and Phoebe Adams were fourth.
The under-15 boys were joint leaders after the first lap with Jamie Moore setting a new club record of 9.29 for the 2,800m hilly lap.
George Richardson went into a 17-second lead with another sub ten-minute show on lap two, but Chichester had to settle for well-deserved silvers when Ollie Pickersgill found the Brighton athlete too strong on the final leg.
In the girls' under-15 race, Katrina Richards-White clocked 10.54 on leg one, with twin sister Bryony and Izzy Brown bringing the team home in fifth.
In the under-13 races, Amelia Sutton and Georgina Warner had times of just outside 12 minutes and were backed up by Georgia Miles to finish fourth.
Chichester's least experienced team performed with credit in the boys' race when Nathan Green, Harry Lyne and Hugo Hodgson were seventh.
James Baker gave the club a fine start in the senior men's race.
The first three runners produced the three fastest times, all under 12.30.
Harry Richardson, still an under-17, came in for his senior cross-country debut and notched 13.23, but despite good runs from Chris Jack and Mick Lyons, they could not prevent Phoenix, Lewes and Hastings taking the medals.
The B team of Dave Bourne, Lewis Adams, Tom Blaylock and Nick Collins finished ninth.
