Arun Gymnastic Club hosted their second annual invitational competition at Arun Leisure Centre, with more than 160 gymnasts competing from clubs as far away as Canterbury.

In the level five competition in the eight-year-old age group, Catherine O'Neill won a gold on the floor, silver on the vault, bronze on bars and finished third overall.

Lucy Stephenson-Gill won bronze on the floor, bronze on the vault, gold on the bars and also came third.

In the nine/ten-year age group, Maddie Angel won gold on floor, silver on vault, bronze on bars and silver on beam to come second.

In the 11/12 year age group, Zoe Solle won gold on beam, silver on bars and floor and bronze on vault and came second overall.

Charlotte O'Neill put in a confident show and won two golds on floor and vault, silver on beam and bronze on bars.

In the 13+ age group, Olivia Lill took gold on floor, silver on beam and vault and a bronze on bars to leave her overall winner.

Sian Dale won gold on bars and vault and silver on floor and beam to end second.

In the intermediate and bronze floor and vault competition, more medals were won by Arun members.

In the intermediate 1999/2000 age group, Sophie Haines came third; in the 97/98 bronze group, Ellie Rusbridge finished third overall and Molly Empson competed well, winning bronze on floor and coming fifth overall.

Jade Willer won gold on floor and finished fourth.

Anna Richardson won a silver medal on vault.

In the bronze category for years 92/96, Natasha Kalbfell won silver on floor and was third overall, Rebecca Smith won gold on floor and came second and Alice Linzey won silver on vault and came third overall.

In the novice competition six/seven-year age group, Betsy Baird won gold on floor and vault and came first overall, Caitlin Baird won two bronzes and Lucy Freeburn won silver on floor.

Georgia Gillam competed as a guest and won a gold on floor and silver on vault and came second overall. Sarah Boundy, Chloe Golding and Megan Tanswell just missed out on the medals.

In the eight/nine year age group, Eleanor Binns won gold on floor and took first place. Elisa Hopper Smith won silver on vault and ended second overall.

In the ten/11 year age group, Charlotte Williamson won gold on vault and Chloe Leach won silver on vault – both came first overall.

In the 12+ age group, Zoe Gibbons came third, Abigail Myerscough won silver on floor and vault and came second overall, Katie Fenneymore won gold on floor and vault and was first overall, while Anna Bargery and Bethany Broad both just missed out on medals.

The club praised sponsors, helpers and Friends of Arun Gymnastic Club who made the day run smoothly.
