In a weekend of fickle breezes another of Dell Quay Sailing Club's major series was decided.
Chris Ede secured the Laser second trophy.

Although his father Richard won Sunday's race, Chris' second place means he is unbeatable, whatever the result of the final two races still to be sailed.

But father-and-son positions could be reverse
d in the first trophy.

Richard's win in Sunday's race in this series leaves him narrowly behind his son in the overall standing.

But he has a good chance of overtaking if his run of good results continues.

With both the Laser 2000 trophy series already secured by Bill and Charlotte Dawber, interest focuses on second place.

In the first trophy, Anne and Jim Norfolk look unassailable, despite being pushed back to third place in a very close finish in Sunday's race, won by Mike Fitzgerald and Tim Dormer.

In the second trophy, however, a first place for John and Liz Sagues took them into second overall, ahead of the Norfolks on tiebreak.

So the final two races will be crucial.

In the handicap series, Mike Van Klaveren (Solo) continued his good run with two first places, but needs more results if he is to move up overall.

Julie and Andrew Rooker (Wayfarer), second in both races, currently lie second in each series behind the unbeatable Malcolm and Jean Buchanan (RS 400).

As Saturday's breeze failed, only one race was sailed.

In the first helm fleet the fast boats sailed far enough ahead to finish in a more favourable wind direction, with Bob Marshall and Neil Bryant (RS400) winning very comfortably from the second RS400, sailed by Ryan Buchanan and a visiting friend, who narrowly pipped the Osprey of Bill Munnery and John Mortimer.

The Norfolks' fourth place currently puts them in the lead in the series, though.

Simon Clark and Clare Lang (Miracle) won the shorter first Copperas race, and lead that series.
