A brilliant maiden senior ton from Ben Hansford set Middleton up for a hard-fought victory at home to Henfield.

Hansford showed why he is one of the most dangerous players in the league with some superb shots down the ground.

He was well supported by Steve Collins as they put together a magnificent opening stand of 148.

Collins was the first to go for 46, but Hansford brought up a chanceless 100 off just 98 balls.

From the other end Eddie Towner useful runs and some late hitting from Neil Pacey saw Middleton to 242 for four from 43 overs.

The visitors promoted bowler Matt Mead up the order because of an injured leg and he became the second centurion of the day.

At 162 for two Henfield looked to be cruising, but the introduction of Mark Hoare, coupled with Mark Carroll's excellent second spell, got Middleton back in the game.

Carroll blasted four quick wickets, Hoare's off-spin picked up three crucial wickets and Brandon Hanley won the game in the last over.
