Lights go out on Chichester's Cup bid

FLOODLIGHT failure hit Chichester City United's hopes of progress in the FA Cup.
After drawing 2-2 at Crawley Down in their extra preliminary round game on Saturday, the replay was held at Oaklands Park on Tuesday night.
But the game had to be abandoned when the floodlights failed.
There was no score at the point when the lights dimmed just before the interval.
Play continued for a few minutes and then some hasty repair work was carried out in order to try to get them working fully again so the game could carry on.
But after a 20 minute delay it was decided to call it off.
As the Observer went to press, no new date for the replay had been set.
But it will have to be arranged quickly, for the winners are due to play in the preliminary round on Saturday, August 30.
A trip to face Cray Wanderers awaits the winners.
