That much is true whether you're in the Premier League or the local parks league.

And it was certainly true at Bognor this season as Craig Stoner enjoyed arguably his best campaign in his five years with the Rocks.

On Sunday night, the big man got his reward – twice over.

He picked up both the players' player of the year award and the supporters' club prize at the club's end-of-season presentation night at the Nyewood Lane clubhouse.

Manager Michael Birmingham was first to pay tribute to the super stopper.

"He ended up romping both awards, and although I thought he might be run closer by two or three others, he deserves them.

"It's been his best season for clean sheets and he has really applied himself well to the task all season and, I think, has improved as a keeper."

A host of other awards were handed out on the night.

Luke Nightingale came back to pick up one of three special awards, the others going to retiring player and secretary Jodey Rowland and Pete Helsby.

Birmingham and Darin Killpartrick won the chairman's trophy, while Dan Beck, Alex Haddow, Andy Pearson and Seb Wallis-Tayler won other player trophies.

Club stalwart Gordon Brown also picked up a prize.
