Stirlands crashed to a 58-run defeat to slump to the foot of the table.
Brighton opted to bat on a dry, bare wicket but Stirlands' opening bowlers Max Barson and Graham Bush made scoring difficult and Barson was rewarded by getting Matt Machan caught behind.

And they continued to take wickets at regular intervals to reduce Brighton to 89 for seven after 30 overs.

Daniel Cox and Nathan Ball continued where Bush and Barson had left off and gave Brighton very little to score off.

Chris Liddle and Jordan Rollings went about rebuilding the innings and managed to put together a patient partnership of 38 before Barson removed Rollings for 16.

Julian Stephenson batted with Liddle and they managed to put on another good partnership of 50, before both were caught on the boundary off the bowling of Struan Cameron.

Wickets were shared around, but the pick was Nathan Ball's three for 47 off 17 overs and Daniel Cox's two for 23 off nine overs.

Stirlands' reply started poorly as they lost Barson to Matthew Wood's first ball.

This brought skipper Sean Heather to the crease to join Daniel Oliver.

They brought the score to 61 before Oliver tried to hit Patrick Spencer over the top and was spectacularly caught by Sam McArthur for 36.

Apart from a gritty 17 from Daniel Cox, 14 from Nathan Ball and 39 from Sean Heather, there was very little resistance from the Stirlands batsmen and although they will feel a few decisions did not go their way, they were bowled out for 134 with ten overs remaining.

Wood was the pick of the home bowlers, taking four for 31 off 15 overs.

Stirlands have seven games left to prove they are worthy of staying in the Premier and will have to work hard to win some big games, starting against Three Bridges this weekend.
