FOUR high-flying cadets from Petersfield celebrated 150 years of the Cadet Force movement at a special event in Winchester.
George Utting (14), Kyle Steed (14), Aneisha Rahman (14), and Diana Flindt (13), joined over 30 other cadets and instructors at the Army Training Centre.

The cadet movement, which comprises the Combined Cadet Force, the Sea Cadet Corps, the Army C
adet Force and the Air Training Corps, organised the event to promote the work it does with young people.

Three of the cadets came from Churcher's College Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and they spoke about why they joined the organisation.

Lance Corporal George Utting, of Petersfield, combines cadets with a paper round at WH Smith.

He said: "I joined the CCF at school as my parents are in the military and it was also something I wanted to do.

"I have already been on a signals and communications course at the Army's Royal Signals base in Blandford, and one of my best achievements so far has been to get my first corporal's stripe."

Lance Corporal Kyle Steed (14), of Liss, was the top recruit on the same course.

He said: "I joined because I wanted to have some fun and learn some new things outside of my school work."

Diana Flindt, of Alresford, is new to the CCF and has only been in for four months.

She said: "I wanted to learn to fly so I joined the CCF at school, and I am really looking forward to my first flight experience with the Cadets."

Army Cadet Aneisha Rahman (14) who lives in Petersfield and goes to The Petersfield School, is a member of the Bordon ACF Platoon, and has been in for just a year.

Aneisha said: "I joined to do something different, to learn new things, and make new friends, and one of the most useful things I have learnt so far has been first aid skills, which are so important to know, and I could use it to help someone one day."
