Petersfield residents have been promised 20 minutes of spectacular action at the town's annual fireworks night.
Organisers Petersfield Round Table have spent £5,500 on fireworks for the show, which takes place on Saturday at the Bell Hill playing fields.

The evening begins with a procession leading from The Square at 6.35pm, ahead of the bonfire being lit a
t 7.10pm and the fireworks being let off at 7.30pm.

Petersfield Round Table chairman Colin Smith said: "It will be one of the best events in the town this year.

"It is suitable for everyone.

"I will be great fun and raises money for very many Petersfield charities.

"The more people that come, the more money we can give to local causes."

He added that weather reports for the weekend were looking good, so he was expecting a big crowd on the night.

The bonfire is due to be built on Saturday morning by members of Petersfield Round Table and Petersfield Scouts.

Representatives from the National Childbirth Trust and parents from Petersfield Town Juniors Football Club will be selling glowsticks and flashing lights on the night.

Tickets are £5 in advance for adults, £6 on the gate, while for children and OAPs the price is £2 in advance and £3 on the gate.

A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £12 in advance and £14 on the gate.

Fireworks display chairman Steve Jacob said: "As usual, tickets will be on sale in Rams Walk on the day of the event.

"Make sure that you keep safe this year and come to an organised, professional event with strict health and safety procedures as opposed to risking letting off a few bangers in the back garden."

Archie Primrose from Froxfield Infant School will be setting off the fireworks display on the night, while Amy Bookham of Petersfield Infant School is lighting the bonfire.

They were both the winners of a schools competition organised by Petersfield Round Table.

Tickets are also available from the Petersfield Post, One Tree Books and the Tourist Information Office at Petersfield Library.
