A landscape painting by Sharon Hurst, member of Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society, has been chosen to hang in the newly-refurbished Red Lion pub.
Sharon explained: "Wetherspoons apparently has 30 new pubs opening across the UK, and they have four agents whose job it is to choose local artwork to hang in them.
"A company in Liverpool contacted PACS and asked whether we had any suitable paintings - they preferred watercolours, they said, and we were all asked to suggest work. We emailed photos of our work to the agents and they selected the ones they wanted. I then had to post my painting to them in Liverpool."
Sharon's painting is one of Glascombe Hanger, overlooking Petersfield and Liss, with a swathe of wild garlic in flower.
She said: "I saw it one day as I was driving my son back from school and we just had to stop and take a photograph. I think the Hangers are such an integral part of where we live. I just love it."
PACS will be holding its annual exhibition of paintings, sculpture and crafts from August 28 to September 4 at the Festival Hall, 10.15am-5.45pm.
More details will be published in the Post in the next few weeks.
