GLORIOUS GOODWOOD is less than a month away.

Regarded by many as the greatest horse-racing event on earth, the festival takes place from Tuesday, July 28, to Saturday, August 1, and more than 100,000 people will pour into the picturesque course during the week to watch the action.

The good news is we are teaming up with Goodwood to offer free tickets to the opening day.

Each week in the run-up to the festival, we are giving away four passes to the Gordon Enclosure for the first day of Glorious Goodwood.

Tuesday, July 28, has some fantastic racing, the highlight of which is the Betfair Cup.

Last year, day one of the festival produced some terrific racing – with one of the highlights a treble for champion jockey Ryan Moore.

He won the festival's first race and had another two under his belt before the afternoon was out.

The big one that day, the Betfair Cup, was won by Richard Hughes on Paco Boy.

To stand a chance of winning this week's pair of first-day Glorious passes, you need to get a copy of the Observer, go to page 15, and follow the instructions.

Sadly this competition is a postal one only, and cannot be opened up to e-mail entries.

To book tickets, call 01243 755022, or for hospitality or restaurants, ring 01243 755027.

Alternatively visit www.goodwood.com

And don't miss the Observer every week between now and Glorious for more chances to win.
