Stirlands have closed the gap on Chichester in the top three of the Sussex League's second division.

They travelled to St James looking for their third consecutive victory – and got it in emphatic fashion.

St James elected to bat but the Stirlands bowlers started well, with Paul Dorkings and Danny Cox bowling with good discipline.

Dorkings got the breakthrough and Anthony Ender and Struan Cameron bowled well after that.

Only Chris Viggor made double figures in a poor performance by the St James batsmen.

St James made only 75 as Ender took four for 15, Cameron three for 21 and Dorkings two for 16.

Stirlands were in no mood to take all day and Ben Rapson and Daniel Oliver took the attack to the bowlers.

Rapson and Oliver finished the job in 14 overs, Oliver hitting a big six over the road to win the game.

Stirlands gained 30 points from the game to give them a pleasing position halfway through the season.
