A silent auction at The Chichester Park Hotel on Thursday May 20 from 7pm will raise funds for the Chichester & Bognor Regis branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Claire Hawkins, branch publicity officer, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to bid for pictures in the LandMarkS artwork collection, with original paintings having been kindly donated by local artists, including Clive McBain. There will be 16 wo
rks of art available.

"Tickets for the event are £10. This will include a welcome drink and a one-course buffet supper followed by coffee. Guests will have the opportunity to bid for the various works of art throughout the evening, and the highest bidder for each piece will be announced at the end of the evening.

"The artwork can be viewed throughout March 2010 in the foyer of The Chichester Park Hotel.

"The charity is hoping that the LandMarkS auction will raise awareness of the illness and also raise the profile of the charity and its work."
Tickets for the event are available from the branch secretary Liz Collet on 01243 574768.

MS is a condition of the central nervous system, Claire explained: "It is the most common disabling neurological disease among young adults. It affects around 85,000 people in the UK.

"The average age of onset is in the early 30s and once diagnosed MS stays with the person for life. The cause is not known, and, as yet, there is no cure."
