The car, created to showcase how BP Ultimate fuel can take motorists further by giving more miles per tank, is being carried up the famous Goodwood hill in an against-the-clock race with the supercar pack.

The car carriers' task will be to reach the top before the whole supercar class of 36 vehicles makes it up there - in around 15 minutes.

The carriers are a team of super-fit soldiers from the 12th Regiment (Royal Artillery) - based in nearby Emsworth. They will be raising money for Children with Leukaemia and Help for Heroes.

Festival-goers can find out how BP Ultimate has been developed to improve fuel economy by visiting the Goodwood FoS-TECH, a high-tech showcase for the low-fuel-consumption cars of the future.

Sue Horler from BP Ultimate, which sponsors the FoS-TECH, said: "It's leg power versus horse power for the first time at the Goodwood Festival."

The leg power v horse power races start at 1.25pm on Saturday and Sunday (July 4 and 5).
