A FOOTBALL photo from the archives shows the triumphant Chichester Boys’ Club XI of 1956 posing for a team picture.
The image appeared in the Observer on Friday, September 28, 1956, at the start of the season.
The team would go on to win their league and cup competitions that year.
The picture was brought in by Les Threlfall, who was the team’s right-back.
He now lives in Bognor Regis, aged 74.
“There was a lot going on for young people in the 1950s,” he said, adding the club had a number of ongoing activities for its members.
He added: “I still see quite a lot of them because quite a lot belong to the Chichester City Club.”
The players’ names are as follows.
From left (standing): G Cozens, C Smart, D Lee, W Houlton, L Threlfall, K Barber.
From left (kneeling): N Clayton, N Chennell, C Gardner, R Hammond, N Williams.
The club entered an A and a B team into the Chichester Minor League for the third season in succession.
