TROOPS in war-torn Afghanistan will soon be reading books sent by people in Mid Sussex.
The British contingent at Camp Bastion has sent an appeal through a local member of the Bureges Hill District Lions club for material for the rest room.
Books can be given at the Lions' Book Den charity shop at 99 Church Walk in Burgess Hill, which sells up to 1,500 titles a week.
They can also be sent through a new collection centre for the books at the South Downs Heritage Centre at South Downs Nurseries at Hassocks from March 17.
