CHAMPION charity collector Ron Haines praised the generosity of people as he notched up a milestone of more than £30,000 in Burgess Hill.
Not even the so-called 'credit crunch' seems to deter the public, according to Ron, 73, as he collects on his stand in the Market Place, Burgess Hill.
Ron has just finished raising about £3,000 in a month for the Help for the Heroes charity through collecting cash and selling about £400 of the charity's stock. His sister Marion Brown, of St Andrews Road, Burgess Hill, also helped the charity with proceeds from two garden parties she held.
Ron, who lives in Bridge Close, Burgess Hill, said: "Whatever charity I have been collecting for the support from people has been wonderful. It's been overwhelming and I am very grateful to them."
