Tremendous response

TWO thousand women will be taking part in this year's Race for Life at Ardingly.
With less than eight weeks to go before they cross the start line at the South of England Showground, on Sunday June 29, organisers have been amazed at the tremendous response to the invitation to walk, jog or run the 5k course and raise vital funds.
For local women who were not able to secure a place at the Ardingly event, Race for Life is extending its invitation to its other events in the area which still have places available. Volunteers are also being requested to help at the events.
Carly Gibbs, Cancer Research UK's event manager, said: "I am overwhelmed that this new Ardingly event has filled so quickly.
"Race for Life is such an inspiring and emotional day where women of all ages and abilities come together to make a real difference.
"But for those women who think they have missed out, the good news is that there are still places left at the Brighton and Hastings events. However, these places are also going fast, and are the only events in Sussex with spaces left, so sign up today."
The Ardingly Race for Life event is expected to raise more than £140,000 in sponsorship which will help support Cancer Research UK's 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses based throughout the UK.
Organisers are now encouraging fundraisers to start setting up their own online sponsorship page. Carly said: "Just invite your friends and colleagues to go online and sponsor you. It is so simple to do and we help you to create your page in minutes. Just visit www.raceforlife.org/onlinefundraising to find out more."
