Cowdray Park hosted their Junior Championship last week and despite a reduced field because of the summer holidays the scoring was still excellent.
The breezy conditions proved to be no handicap to the up-and-coming juniors.
Overall winner of the scratch prize was George Hannah with 73. Harry Richardson won the handicap prize with a nett 65.
n The Challen family proved to be the strongest
in the challenge for the Stent and Edwards Cups. There were 29 players for the 36 holes played over Saturday and Sunday.
Sixteen-year-old Tom beat father Trevor for the Stent Cup but Trevor beat Shaun White for the Edwards Cup.
Cowdray’s seniors suffered a rare defeat on their home course, going down 4½-3½ to Corhampton.

n Cowdray’s seniors won 6-2 in their final match with Goodwood.
It was a somewhat sad occasion after so many years of friendly rivalry.
However Mike Pratt, Cowdray Park seniors captain and also the match manager for the past 14 years, signed off with the joke he told all those years ago and some say he has been telling ever since.
