Bognor had Luke Nightingale sent off as their season hit a new low at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

Jack Pearce admitted his side were just not good enough as they lost 3-2 after conceding two goals in injury-time.

The Rocks led 2-0 at the break following goals from David Ray and Nightingale.

The hosts hit back through Hale on 49 minutes, b
efore Ray squandered a golden opportunity to restore Bognor's two-goal advantage.

Craig Stoner made a brilliant save to keep out a penalty but was then badly at fault in injury-time when he came for a cross he never had a chance of making and Hopkins grabbed an equaliser.

Nightingale was then harshly adjudged offside and took his frustration out on the ball as he kicked it out of the ground, only to be shown the red card.

And Bognor's misery was complete six minutes into injury-time when Holgate grabbed Weston's winner from a corner.

That proved the last touch of the game and Pearce could not hide his anger afterwards.

He said: "Just when you thought the season couldn't get any worse this happens.

"We played really well in the first half and deserved to be 2-0 up. Then we missed a great chance to make it 3-1 and the rest of the half was a nightmare.

"We're just not good enough. We're now eight games into the season and somehow by the tenth game I've got to have found some players to turn our season around."

Bognor host Bath City at Nyewood Lane on Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm
