Cystic fibrosis sufferer Rob Sadler from Petworth is gearing up for his fourth Capital to Coast bike ride.
After taking a well-earned rest last year Rob, who works at Chandlers Building Supplies, will be getting back on the saddle for the gruelling 60-mile trek from Esher in Surrey to Hove on Sunday in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Rob knows how important this challenge is to raise funds for the charity.

"I'm currently taking part in a study, which is looking into gene therapy treatment, the next important step forward in the management of the illness," he said.

"The government provides no money for these studies, so it's vital the Cystic Fibrosis Trust raises as much money as possible."

Rob is not the only person in his family to have inherited cystic fibrosis. His cousin's two children Danielle and Lucy were also born with the illness.

Lucy is 25 and her health has deteriorated to a point where she is now reliant on supplementary oxygen which helps her breathe, meaning she is now on the heart and lung transplant list.

When Danielle was 16 she was lucky enough to get her transplant, but still lived to the age of only 25.

All funds raised by Rob's Capital to Coast challenge will help the Cystic Fibrosis Trust research and develop a cure for sufferers.

More than £500 has already been raised including donations from builders and tradesmen from the Fried Club held at Chandlers Petworth branch.

Anyone who would like to make a donation should take it along to Chandlers Building Supplies in Petworth or use one of the collecting jars in Austen and Co or the Tasty Plaice in Petworth.

Cheques should be made payable to 'Norwood'.
