Two new pieces of play equipment have been installed at the children's playground at Easebourne, paid for by a housing developer.
As a condition of the planning consent, the developer of Budgenor Lodge on the A286 at Easebourne contributed £31,500 towards the improvement of community facilities in the parish.

First, a total of £3,104 was spent on replacing six old benches, five at the playground and one at the Glaziers Lane burial ground.

Now a further £3,654 has been committed to the two pieces of play equipment, deliberately chosen as suitable for toddlers who were not catered for previously.

Parish clerk Carole Allen said: "We have invested in a multi-play system and a Freddie Frog sit-on spring mobile.

"The total cost also includes installation and the safety surfacing."

Among the first to see some of the young villagers enjoying the new equipment were Easebourne district and parish councillor Elizabeth Hamilton and her fellow parish councillor Mike Taylor.

Mrs Allen said the next project to be funded from the Budgenor Lodge contribution would be a stairlift at the village meeting place, the Refectory, to enable disabled and less mobile people to get to the main meeting room on the first floor.

Planning permission for the stairlift has already been granted.
