THE never ending queue of visitors stretched across the Causeway under the fluttering purple banners and archways of balloons.
It was a testament to the roaring success of this year's new look Midhurst Carnival which drew more than 4,000 people to the Cowdray Ruins on Bank Holiday Monday, May 5, to enjoy a wealth of entertainment.

Overhead there was the constant sound of the helicopter which was kept busy throughout the day giving pleasure rides from its helipad at the back of the Ruins.

Even the weather which had threatened rain, gave way to brilliant sunshine from the start of the day until dusk.

It was a triumph for the new organising partnership of the carnival, the Midhurst based Dreams Come True charity and the Midhurst Lions and on Monday it seemed that the whole town had got behind the new venture to ensure its success.
