Fernhurst Pre-school celebrated its 40th birthday with a party for all those who had been involved with the school since the start, and people turned up from all over the area.
There were past and present parents, pupils and leaders, all eager to join the celebrations.
A cheque for a £1,000 was presented to the pre-school by Fernhurst Revels chairman Gill Davis.
The money was part of the profit from this year's event.
Proceeds are ploughed back into village facilities.
The rooms used by the school were filled with photographs and press cuttings from the 40 years of its existence.
These included coverage of the move from its original setting in the Golden Bowler tearooms to its current home in the youth club buildings.
There were also plans of the proposal for its own purpose-built building in the primary school grounds.
This is an idea supported by the primary school's
governors who are also providing another classroom for the Year 6 pupils who will be staying at Fernhurst under the reorganisation of Rother Valley schools.
Helium-filled balloons were released and a birthday cake made by Clare Barnett was cut and shared among everyone present.
