A 'bat bus' will be taking people for a family afternoon out in the wilds of a nature reserve at Ebernoe later this month.
Sussex Wildlife Trust's reserve, which has ancient woodland dating back to the Ice Age, is home to 14 of the 17 species of British bat, including two colonies of the rarest – barbastelles and Bechstein's.
The free bus will pick up family groups fr
om Petworth, Wisborough Green, Kirdford, Plaistow and Northchapel on Sunday, September 21, for heaps of batty entertainment including live bats, storytellers, face painting, model making and a guided walk around the reserve..
The event, Batz n'Bratz, is being held to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the West Weald Landscape Project – a partnership project conserving and enhancing nearly 60,000 acres of internationally- important ancient woodlands and other wildlife-rich habitats in West Sussex and south Surrey.
