A £2,500 cheque was presented to the Sussex Air Ambulance Fund by West Sussex County Council staff.
The council's environment and development group raised the money throughout 2007 by monthly dress-down days, cake sales and a Grand National sweepstake.
Environment director Kieran Stigant and other staff went to the air ambulance base at Dunsfold Park to see the work of the charity and present the cheque.
County councillor Margaret Johnson has supported the campaign for a Sussex air ambulance from the start and congratulated the group on its success.
The appeal was launched in 2005 and the emergency helicopter was launched last year. The challenge now is for the fund to meet the yearly running costs of around £1.5m.
