The Arun and Downland Gundog Society held a brace working test at Milland with 14 entries.
The land made available by John Lillywhite was varied, with lakes, woods, hedges, set-aside and crops, which gave Paula Pitman the opportunity to set a good range of five tests, with both dogs in each brace having to show their ability in each test.
Judges Keith Broomfield and Colin Richardson went their separate ways to judge two tests each in the morning and then joined after lunch for a final test for all the braces.
First prize went to Tom Walsh with labradors Wintersend Artemesia and Tudorcourt Hornbill.
Paul Jennings was second with labradors Swiftbrook Tan and Luddesdowne Savannah. Third was Ron Walford with his cocker spaniels Kenmiller Jet Set and Woottopo Pippen.
Both Diana Stevens and Pam Walton were awarded certificates of merit with, respectively, labradors Pawcrest Jadesdream for Wylanbriar and Malikas Promise to Wylanbriar and golden retrievers Danshell Scrumpy of Notlaw and Haremire Atmena of Notlaw.
The club's next event was a working test for novice dogs and novice handlers. It was won by Wendy Glue of Midhurst with her yellow labrador, Inca's First Whip.
