Witches, robots and even a Madonna look-alike turned up at Midhurst Grammar School when sixth formers organised a charity week which raised an impressive £1,737 for locally-based Dreams Come True.
The week was designed to involve the whole school, and each day students arrived in outfits reflecting the themes they had chosen, including magic and mystery, 20th century movies and the 1980s.

Several other events were organised, including a staff versus students football match which resulted in a triumphant 10–4 result for the students.

Money was also raised through Sponge the Teacher, when there was a chance to soak staff with wet sponges and buckets of water.

The week included an auction where sixth formers offered work and services for a price.

Highlight of the week was Lip Sync, a show featuring students performing to music by some of their favourite bands including Shakira, YMCA and the Moulin Rouge Crew.

The show, on the final day, was a big success with the school hall packed with students and staff.

Deputy headteacher Helen Beauchamp said she was proud of the efforts of all the students for raising such a significant sum, and particularly proud of the sixth formers who organised the fun week.

Praise came also from Philip Pride, fundraising manager for Dreams Come True, who said: "We are absolutely delighted with the commitment and enthusiasm that has been shown."

Dreams Come True helps children who have life-threatening and long-term degenerative illnesses. Anyone knowing a child who deserves a dream can call 0800 018 6013 or visit www.dctc.org.uk .
