Fernhurst Revels will be a main event in the area this Sunday (May 18).
Centred around the ancient tradition of crowning the May queen, the village fete draws in stalls and attractions for all age groups.

The afternoon starts with the procession to the recreation ground at 12.30pm.

Lively samba music will accompan
y its progress, with the May queen and her attendants, last year's May queen, flower scatterers, heralds, crown bearers, and fancy dress entrants.

After she is crowned, the queen calls on her faithful St George to kill the Dragon and then announces the Revels open.

The programme includes magic shows, line dancing, face painting, a dog agility demonstration and a fun dog show, live music, a beer tent, hog roast, barbecue, teas and a variety of stalls and sideshows.

A car boot sale will start at 11am.

Pictures and a report will appear on the Observer's website and in the Midhurst and Petworth Observer on sale May 22.
