The Royal Surrey County Hospital's chairman Alan Howarth has decided to step down after six-and-a-half years in the role.
During his time Mr Howarth has succeeded in cutting waiting times and improving the accident and emergency service.
He has also dramatically cut waiting times for elective surgery
and developed cancer treatment services as well as taking the hos
pital out of the red, leaving after three continuous years of delivering a surplus of funds.
Melloney Poole will be acting chairman until a new chairman is elected.
