West Sussex county council is reviewing safety at its Littlecote Children's Home in Petworth after two children climbed out on to the roof at the weekend.
Firefighters were called to the home at 9.40pm on Saturday because staff were unable to reach the children to get them back to safety.

But the two boys, aged eight and nine, returned on their own, before the emergency service arrived, and were u
nharmed.

A spokesman for the county council told the Observer: "We are now looking how they managed to get on to the roof and how incidents such as this can be prevented in the future."
