The final 12 pupils have said their farewells to West Lavington Primary School, which closed its doors for the final time.
Headteacher Di Ponting, her three part-time teachers and two teaching assistants have all been made redundant.
"We have been under threat for so long," said Miss Ponting, who has been headteacher at West Lavington for 14 years, "that finally having a decision and closing is almost a relief."
But she said the closure had left herself and the five other teaching members of staff without jobs.
"We have all been made redundant, but we will all be looking for jobs in the near future."
On Friday, July 18, she led the last school assembly for the remaining children, with parents and friends looking on. Final trophies and certificates were presented and prayers were led by the Rev Colin Bradley.
Three of the children will start at Midhurst Intermediate School in September, five will attend Stedham Primary School and the remaining four are to attend Easebourne Primary School.
Miss Ponting is due to lock the school doors for the last time this afternoon (Thursday, July 24) and hand over the keys to an officer from the diocese as West Lavington is a church-aided school.
It is not yet known what future use will be made of the school building.
