People walking on footpaths around Midhurst may have noticed a new logo on waymarking posts denoting the route of the 'LipChis Way'.
The 38-mile walk from Liphook to Chichester Harbour officially opens over August bank holiday weekend with a three-day inaugural trek.
The route is marked along its length with a logo representing the South Downs, the River Rother and Chichester H
arbour.
It begins at Liphook railway station, crosses heathland to Woolbeding and follows the valley of the River Rother. It skirts around Midhurst to Heyshott and over the South Downs, through Charlton Forest to Singleton.
Crossing the Trundle, it follows Centurion Way into Chichester, finishing with a gentle walk along the harbour edge to reach East Head.
The path is an extension of the original LipChis Way which opened in 1985 and was a 26-mile walk from Liphook to Chichester. The new route has been developed by Footprints of Sussex in partnership with West Sussex County Council.
The inaugural walk takes place over three days from Saturday, August 23 to Monday, August 25, on a reverse route from East Head to Liphook. There will be complimentary refreshments along the route and tea and cakes at the end of each day for all who join in.
