WOODWORK students from Chichester College claimed a clean sweep of the top three in a young woodworker of the year competition.
Lecturer Christian Notley visited a show where previous winners' work was on display – and thought his students could do a lot better.

He entered four of his students, who submitted work they had made during their hand-crafted furniture course.

The college students came away with the top three in the Woodworker Magazine's young woodworker of the year category.

Chris Wallis (17) won first place, and a prize of £700 of power tools, with his oak coffee table with two drawers and a quartered oak veneer top.

Charlotte Churchill (18) was second, with a small mahogany side table with book match veneers on the top, and received tools worth £200.

Luke Ratsey (19) won third place for his hall stand with diamond veneered top and fretwork panels on the side, and he wins £100 worth of tools.
