GIRL Guides in Midhurst don’t waste much time when it comes to raising money.

In just a couple of hours, they netted £340 for the kitty which will fund the maintenance of their headquarters hut at Carron Lane.

The event was a coffee morning, and sales of coffee and cakes, with other activities and an Easter egg hunt, soon had the cash rolling in.

Ann Ball, one of the Guide leaders, said: “It was very successful and the wonderful thing about it was that it was the girls’ idea to do it.

“We think we shall now make it an annual event, although not necessarily at the same time of year.”

The Guides group is solely responsible for keeping the hut in good repair, and with the facilities it needs, since the Scouts who used to share it disbanded.
