PETWORTH Park was one of the major locations for the filming of a new Disney blockbuster.
The action film – Maleficent – stars Angelina Jolie and is a follow-up to Sleeping Beauty more than 50 years after its release.
In the film, Petworth purports to be Maleficent’s Moors.
Bill Darby, supervising location manager on Maleficent said: “The National Trust cares for some of the most diverse landscapes in the UK, so they’re an obvious first port of call when you’re scouting for stunning locations.
“People think you can create almost any image with a computer these days, but we are not quite there just yet.”
Petworth Park is one of two National Trust locations taking a starring role in the film – the other is at the Ashridge Estate in Hertfordshire which doubles as Maleficent’s Enchanted Forest.
