THEY came from across the South East of England and they filled every space at the Grange Leisure and Community centre in Midhurst.
It was the 34th annual modellers show, the popular event which was held for the second time this year in the new centre.
Last year a record number of visitors poured through the doors and centre manager Mike Boyce was expecting large numbers.
“We had a tremendous show on Valentine’s Day and it far exceeded our last year’s show in numbers and exhibits,” he told the Observer.
There were more than 70 displays which filled the halls downstairs and spread upstairs too.
They ranged from Meccano, motor vehicles, planes and boats to working model railway layouts of all sizes.
Mike added: “There was good representation from clubs and societies as well as traders selling modelling parts.”
And people of all ages came to admire the models which ranged from Chichester bus station to a Basingstoke Motor Launch.
Featuring were some of the old favourites including the Runnymede Meccano Guild and the Astolat Model Railway Circle were drew particular interest from the younger visitors.
