MIDHURST’S new vicar The Rev David Willis was welcomed to the town by the congregation at his service of induction.

The service at the parish church was conducted by the Bishop of Horsham, the Rt Rev Mark Sowerby.

Afterwards, people from across the parishes of Midhurst and Woolbeding got a chance to meet their new vicar and his wife Sarah-Jane at a reception in the Grange Leisure Centre.

The Rev Willis came to the town from Ifield near Crawley where he had served as curate since his ordination in 2010.

He and his wife have two children Poppy aged seven and Jacob who is four years old.

Sarah-Jane was a contestant on series three of the popular BBC Two television show The Great British Bake Off.

The family arrived in the town earlier this month and have taken up residence at the vicarage in June Lane.

David said: “Sarah-Jane and I are really looking forward to making our new home in Midhurst and getting to know you all.

“We are also looking forward to becoming part of the community.

“Our decision to come here was not a hard one to make as I wholeheartedly believe that this is where God is calling us to be.”
