BOMB disposal experts cordoned-off the heart of Rose Green this afternoon (Wednesday, January 21) after a bomb scare.

They were alerted to the possible threat around 1.15pm. The alarm was raised after a suspicious briefcase was found outside a bank branch.

A spokesman from Sussex Police said: “Police were called around 1.15pm to Avisford Terrace in Bognor to reports of a suspicious briefcase next to a bin.

“Roads have been closed in the area at Hewarts Lane and Rose Green Lane and the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) are on the scene.”

Motorists were advised to avoid the area but the road started to be re-opened around 4.15pm.
