Bricklaying to mark step

THE IMPOSING steel structure of the new Grange Centre is finally complete, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development.

The new state-of-the-art facility, which is being built by the Leadbitter group, will replace the current Grange Centre.

At the start of February, two large cranes were brought on to the Midhurst site to put up a 250-tonne steel frame.

A brick-laying ceremony will take place at the Grange tomorrow, when the first brick will be put in place.

After the ceremony, there will be light refreshments for invited guests who have played a significant part in the plans, development and construction of the new facility.

However, parking at The Grange centre is still causing problems. At an Easebourne Parish Council meeting last week, district councillor Elizabeth Hamilton said extra parking at Midhurst Rother College was not available when required.

The centre is due to open in spring 2014, and work is on track.
