Funds given for Petworth vision plan

The sum of £30,000 will be unlocked to see a vision for Petworth become a reality.

Chichester District Council’s cabinet has recommended the funds would be allocated from the Local Authority Business Growth Incentive Scheme (LABGIS).

Members supported the scheme, which has already been a success in Midhurst and Selsey, with traders seeing a noticeable improvement to turnover, or to their ability to remain in business.

“We like to support our market towns, especially at these very tough times. The Local Authority Business Growth Incentive Scheme is a very considerable sum of money and we are now looking at supporting Petworth with similar support we gave to Selsey,” said Myles Cullen, cabinet member for economy, tourism and car parks.

It is proposed the vision will be in two phases with studies to identify ways of improving growth in the High Street and a steering group to study the results.
