A SUPERMARKET chain has confirmed it has not bought the Blockbuster stores in the Observer area.

Morrisons announced the purchase of 49 Blockbuster stores, particularly in the South East, as it begins an expansion of its convenience brand ‘M’.

But the company confirmed today (February 28), the Chichester and Bognor Regis stores were not on their list.

Bognor’s video store was one of the first to be axed in the first round of closures last month, but remains open at this time.

The Blockbuster in Market Road, Chichester, which Deloitte confirmed would close in their second round of closures, also remains open.

However, staff were unable to talk about the fate of the store.
