“WE like to see small companies making a difference,” said the sponsor of our Going Green Award.

Director of South Coast Skips, Jacob Hoare, decided to sponsor the category in the hope that small businesses who make a big difference to the environment will be recognised for their efforts.

The waste management company is a local leader in all things eco-friendly, and Jacob said: “I like it because it is fast-paced and everything is always changing.

“Obviously it is nice to be able to go to bed and think I’ve done something good.”

South Coast Skips was set up in 2003, and the company as a whole is very aware of the environment and how to protect it.

This is a message they want to spread, and hope they can get more businesses to go green.

Jacob urges eco-friendly businesses to apply for the award, and said big companies find it easier to go green, so he wants to commend small businesses that have made the change.

He said: “It would raise the profile of the business and encourage other people to go green. There are financial rewards as well as environmental ones.”
