FOR a small group, the Camelsdale Garden Club members did themselves proud with a mass of entries at their autumn show.
Commenting on the high standard of the entries, judge Paul Strike said both the flowers and the vegetables looked good, smelled good and probably tasted good!
The dahlias on show had escaped the week of poor weather and were thriving, as were the vases of mixed flowers.
Trophy winners were David Batehup for the vegetable section, Eileen Sams for the flowers and Janet Upfield for the cookery.
While the judging was taking place, the club held its annual meeting during which all the officers and committee were re-elected. Past talks and trips were discussed and future ones were announced.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, October 16, at 7.30pm in St Paul’s Church Hall with a talk on the life of Helen Allingham who painted so many cottages in the area. All are welcome and tea is served.
