A TOWN was buzzing on Sunday (June 2), after the town’s fifth classic car show went into overdrive.
More than 160 classic cars were on display at Lion Green, Haslemere, after a 60-mile tour, and there were plenty of stalls selling local produce, crafts, and car-related goods.
Car owners had been encouraged to dress to match their vehicles and Andrea Porter from Nutfield, Surrey, won the best-dressed car and driver competition in her 1969 VW Beetle.
A bake-off competition attracted many decorated cakes, and the winning chocolate cake was baked by Rita Clayton of Camelsdale. Second place went to Bea Swiatkowska from Haslemere and the children’s prize went to eight-year-old Nicole Bacon.
The annual show is organised by local classic car broker and restorer James Ewing.
“What an amazing day, the tour was extremely well received and we had a huge selection of display cars from a 1914 Steam car to an ex Works Lancia Integrale rally car,” he said.
“It was another successful event.”
