IT WAS very much a celebration of all things wood, when WL West and Sons, the family timber merchants at Selham held its annual two-day Wood Show.

And more than 800 visitors, some coming from as far away as Essex, took time out to view everything on show throughout Friday and Saturday when the business threw open its doors for the seventh year running.

Director Dave West told the Observer: “What we are trying to do is to make the show a celebration of wood and every year we try to add something different to keep it fresh.”

This year the show included demonstrations by wood carvers and wood turning displays.

“We are trying to make the interest as wide as possible,” said Mr West, “not just concentrating on one aspect but on as much as possible.

“We are keen to promote the educational aspect as well as cater for enthusiasts and trade customers as well.”
