BRONZE, silver and gold chief scouts awards were presented to 31 young people at a Petworth and Pulborough Scout District reception held in Fittleworth village hall.

They were presented by Mike Wakeling, deputy county commissioner for West Sussex Scouts.

Chief scout awards are the highest awards achievable and the Petworth and Pulborough Scout District hosts three receptions a year for the young people and their families to recognise their achievement.

District commissioner Kathleen Bridger said: “Thanks to Bear Grylls, chief scout, who has done a great deal to promote Scouting, it is very popular in the district which incorporates groups at Ashington, Bury, Billingshurst, Easebourne, Fittleworth, Harting, Ifold, Petworth, Pulborough, Storrington and Wisborough Green.

“To accommodate the number of young people who wish to join, we have a great need for adult assistance and if you have any
time at all and you would like to join the fun, please contact me on 01798 343026 or email kathbridger@yahoo.co.uk.”
